MINISTRIES

ORPHAN MINISTRY

Although the Keeling’s did not have a definite plan for ministry when they arrived in Teopisca in June of 2007, the Lord very quickly and graciously opened many doors of ministry to them. One of the doors that the Lord opened caused Lance and Sarah to cross paths with the only orphanage in the city of Teopisca; operated out of a family’s home.

Like the orphanages that George Mueller operated in the mid 1800’s, the children that live in this house home will not be adopted out, but will be cared for until they reach young adulthood and can leave to live independent lives and most likely start families of their own. The goal of this orphanage is to provide safety, stability, health care, education and most important of all, instruction in God's Word so that each child may glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

On Thanksgiving Day 2008, construction commenced on the first structure of an actual orphanage facility located just outside of town on about 5 acres of land. Building phase one - a new kitchen/dining hall - was completed in the spring of 2010. The second phase - the boy’s dormitory and a very small girl’s dormitory - was completed in the fall of 2010. In the spring of 2011, the third phase - a laundry facility and a small cabaña that currently serves as the office/visitor's meeting area/second boy’s dormitory - was completed. Phase four is currently underway which is a larger boy’s dormitory that will allow the boys to live in one structure instead of two. Due to the increased number of children that the orphanage has received over the last six months it appears that there will also need to be a fifth phase to increase the size of the girl’s dormitory. When completed, the facility will be able to house between 30 and 35 orphans/abandoned children.

This orphanage will also serve as a training facility that will that will include bread making, a mechanic shop, an electrical shop, and possibly a fish hatchery. This training facility will enable the children to learn a trade before leaving so that one day they will be able to support a family of their own.
