INTRODUCING...the Keeling family!

Lance, Sarah, Joshua, Caleb, Andrew AND Grace Keeling understand it to be God’s call on their lives to take His message of ‘the gospel of peace’ to every tribe, tongue and nation of the world; particularly those in south Mexico. As is evident, the Lord has placed a great love in their hearts for the Mexican people and their culture, and thus they trust that Mexico is where the Lord would have them for a lifelong work for the kingdom of God.

Lance and Sarah were married on April 15, 2006 in Dallas, TX and spent over a year preparing for their departure, which included several short term mission trips to various parts of Mexico. After one year of marriage, Lance and Sarah loaded down their pick-up truck and headed for southern Mexico; they arrived on June 7, 2007. Joshua Judson was born on May 20, 2008, Caleb Lance on September 24, 2009 and Andrew Paton joined the family on October 2, 2011. All three boys were born in a clinic in a neighboring city named San Cristobal de las Casas, which is about an hour from where they currently live.

The Keelings live in the state of CHIAPAS, which is the southernmost state in Mexico. They call Teopisca home, a city about two hours east of the capital city of Tuxtla Gutierrez and about two hours west of the Guatemalan border in Central America. Teopisca is about one mile wide by one and a half miles long and has a population between 12,000 to 15,000. Besides the city proper, there are many small indigenous villages that are considered part of Teopisca as well.

Since their arrival in 2007 the Keelings have been serving the Lord in a variety of MINISTRIES. Some of these ministries include local hands-on ministry to several alcoholics, hosting a Tuesday afternoon Bible study with about 20 – 25 children, an ever-growing youth ministry, Vacation Bible Schools, teaching English classes as time permits and assisting with the children at a local orphanage. The ministry they are most involved in is the church plant in their home which began November 6, 2011.

Lance taught Sunday School at a local church in Teopisca from September 2007 until January 2011 when the Lord began moving in the hearts of Lance and Sarah to begin a church plant in early 2011. They saw such a great need in Teopisca to not only teach the word of God on Sundays, but also be more involved in the daily lives of the local people and the church plant is opening the door to meet these needs.

In February 2009, the Keeling’s formed Living Among Them Ministries as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation in the state of Texas. One of the main reasons for this non-profit is to provide a means for individuals, families, churches and other corporations and groups to financially and prayerfully partner with them in ministering to their local community. The Lord has assembled an experienced group of like-minded individuals to serve on the BOARD OF DIRECTORS and provide oversight, direction and accountability to the vision and function of this ministry. Ultimately the Word of God is our call to existence and our blueprint for effectiveness... “And [we] thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled [us], for that he counted [us] faithful, putting [us] into the ministry;” I Tim 1:12
